Cork Literary Review Dublin Launch

February 29, 2012

On Thursday 23 February Poetry Ireland hosted the launch of the Cork Literary Review Volume XIV, the final date in the Irish-US tour of the anthology (Organised by Jamie O’Connell – supported by Culture Ireland and Cork City Council). Poet Gerard Smyth launched Volume XIV, while Editor Eugene O’Connell presented highlights of the Review, with readings by Maurice Harmon, Jennifer Matthews and Breda Joy.

A feature of the evening was the a display of a tablecloth with the signatures of all the major 20th century Irish writers, including WB Yeats, Sean O Casey, JM Synge, and James Joyce, who signed it in London in 1934 when he travelled there to marry Nora Barnacle in a registry office. The cloth also includes the signatures of the major political and public figures of the day including Eamon DeValera, Micheal Collins and Arthur Griffith.
